Everlasting Death

A fork in the road
Wicked as we are
Yet contrast enhances a brighter resolution
Where failure reproves faithfulness
Learning to wash the feet of God on this footstool
A body absolved by blood
Oh that I could un-acquire a taste for venom
When deceit speaks easier than the truth
When it feels like I’m faking to believe
As we reverence our hearts above the cross
If no deed is worth its weight in redemption
Surely no sin can bring my hope into question
Every charge sticks
And yet my faith in You prevails
As I make bail and You pay the wages of a death sentence…

This poem is written influenced of my beliefs when it comes to redemption. It illustrates this inner conflict in the reassurance of beliefs despite the ways I fail. It's a dichotomy of sorts that shows what it looks like to trust God even when your heart accuses you of the ways our sins betray Him. There is a scripture that says, even if your heart condemns you remember even God is greater than your heart.
