Hairesy

Dark brown mane speckled gray
each melanin depleted strand
not simply evincing age
but observable symbols,
medals of valor
awarded for perseverance
amid trials, pain, and grief
merit marks of intense ecstasy
every patch of silvery hair
containing wisdom
sage advice
born of and nurtured by
lived experiences

Author's Note
This piece is inspired by LunaGreyhawks recent poem, "Haircut,"(https://deepundergroundpoetry.com/poems/419694-haircut/)
It compelled me to contemplate my own gray hairs and what they mean to me. The only thing I despise about gray hair is the wiriness and that it seems to have a penchant for disheveling misbehavior...like me actually. 😏😉
