Neverwhere

Ladies and gentlemen
Of the farther shore,
This cut shall reveal to you
The mirrors inside of me.
I feel the dead in my veins,
Reflected back from my void
In the nervous flow of blood,
And I am haunted by their voices.

And though it is in my head…
That doesn’t mean it isn’t real.

Ladies and gentlemen of the court,
I cannot feel anything anymore,
Except for the light fading behind my eyes,
And it kills me to see this world’s colors
Drain before me into a neverwhere
Of grinding teeth and bloodless minds.

And if it is all in my head
That doesn’t mean it is not real.

I do not accept myself…
I am nothing more than offerings
To forces beyond comprehension.
Even now I hear the screams
Of those who never will exist,
And I converse with what is not there.

I do not care enough to weep.
Or it is that I cannot cry anymore.
I have no tears to shed at this burial
Beyond the prison walls of my devices.

We are all dead…
We are just crawling…
And if you’re not dead,
You never will understand.
Ladies and gentlemen—
Wraiths I see in my waking dreams,
We are all dead…
We are just crawling…
And if you’re not dead,
You never will understand
