I am religious
I am religious once again.
For you have made my empty bed
a place of eager pilgrimage
and prayer
where I, at journey's end,
devout within your arms,
amazed,
invoke repeatedly
the name of god.
For you have made my empty bed
a place of eager pilgrimage
and prayer
where I, at journey's end,
devout within your arms,
amazed,
invoke repeatedly
the name of god.

It is a great poem if that person who has filled your bed is your wife.

Re: Re. I am religious
You've GOT to be joking! The "greatness" of the poem depends on whether or not the woman spoken of in a piece on the joys of making love is the speaker's wife?
And can a prudish assertion about how pre-marital sex is "sinful" and not to be enjoyed really be something by which the **literary quality** of a writing is to be judged?
Are you really saying that in order for a writing to be "great", it must support your sense of what's right and what's wrong -- and that if it doesn't, it has no literary quality whatsoever no matter how well and felicitously and evocatively it is written?

Love, is definitely a religion !
There’s no doubt about that, and when you find the right one to love, honour and obey; it reinforces that notion in the context in which you’ve spoken, and shared in your write !
If you ask, and she says yes; I hope you both dance to something like this — >

Thank you for your remarks. But I must say that they contain something that is one of my pet peeves, namely using the verb "write" as a noun.
Please note what Howard Millar has said about this on the critical poetry site the Poetry Free For All.
The Verb "Write"
Yes, shockingly enough, the word "write" is indeed a verb. Furthermore, it is always a verb. Likewise, it is only a verb. Correspondingly and amazingly enough to some of our posters, it is never a noun. Hence, there is no such thing as "a write." There is no such thing as "a good write." There is no such thing as "a great write." There is no such thing as "a fantastic write." Despite the truth of these facts about the word "write," we have been forced to delete numerous examples of all four of the preceding quoted phrases from critiques, most often but not exclusively in "Newbie's" and "General." And we will continue to do so with renewed vigor and fortitude wherever this obscene form of linguistic laziness rears its ugly and illegitimate head.
Be advised: There is "writing." There is "good writing." There is "great writing." There is "fantastic writing." But there is no such thing as "a write" of any description. If you choose to make use of this perversion, expect your comments containing it to be deleted forthwith and without further ado, and yourself to be made great mock of for your failure to use the English language correctly.
