The Intent of Mary's Words to Me

What did virgin Mary say to me,
Archangel Gabriel,
when I told her she would be
the mother of the one
that God desired and planned
to name his “son”?

Was it how she’d bend
her sovereign disputatious will to his?

A Greekless “poet” who is full
of cloying piety and bad theology says so,
and apodictically,
because he claims
that such was the intent
behind, and undisputed meaning of,
these words:

“Behold the handmaid of the Lord
let it be unto me according to thy word “

But I who speaks the languages
of ancient Palestine
can testify his claim is false.
In fact, he’s reading into them
a meaning that’s not there,
for it is one
the Greek text of her words
most surely cannot bear,
and only can be found
attested in the soul wrenched plea
to God her son cried our
when he was on his knees
that tortured night
in dark Gethsemane.
