Comfort Zone

It’s been days since the sun graced my skin to warm my heart
The lack of freckles on my body prove the statement even more so
Empty feelings pull as I move to sit nearer to what light there is
Tap tap tap on the metal above, crashing, thunder, soothing, calming
Waves crash on the window, dripping down the crack on the inside
I swipe it up, looking lazily at the liquid dripping down my finger tip
Sticking my finger to my tongue, I taste the bitter salt from the ocean
My gaze shifts, focusing to the window, just beyond the foggy glass
Clouds bring back memories of darker days but give such peace
As sad as the storms come to trap me inside here, I am safe here
Comfortable in this place, nothing to lose, nothing new to experience
I see a glimmer of light pass through the rainy clouds and waves
Past the sea, a haven awaits wanting but what is there, unknown to me
Maybe, I could be brave enough to venture out past this cage I live in
Creating my own new path towards possible chaotic terrors
Creating a raft to travel, maybe I will float or even try to swim there...
Past the open waters, to the unstable land to explore new beginnings
Breaching the unknown, a dream, a fantasy as some would call it
One day I will simply stop living...I will stop living so that I may become
Alive
