Bones in the swamp

Water the color of old, pooled blood
Slowly moving forward in watery seconds
Small plants waving their tendrils
In ghostly, ever so slow movements
So many lazy fat insects hovering
Their effervescent silvery wings
Winking the weak, cold sunlight
Glum looking frogs with bubble gum tongues
Snatching them straight out of the air
Their fellow insects move apart from the space
As if they created a slow moving bead curtain
Alligator eyes peer up and out of the water
The blood of ancients flow in their veins
Lazily swimming casually enjoying the heat
The sweltering heat you can see sizzling
The geat waves visible just above the water
And on the muddy shore an eternal grin peaks
From within reeds that bend and sway, waving to you
Aged teeth sharp boney bits, moss and tiny yellow flowers
Simply growing in the dirt in the sockets
Flowers filling the space eyes once held
Forever enjoying the life that exists there
