the body knows it destination
its maps are carved in bone
and its way marked with tokens
left by lovers living and long dead --
foreboding chromosomal remnants
passed cell to cell
in lethal combination,
dark genetic tomes memorized
and recited by back and vein,
liver and brain,
the cells awaiting subtle
environmental cues
or counting the years,
the deal sealed
before you saw the light of day

A marvelous thinker of a write. My head has me swimming to notions of internally knowing what I will do before I even do it and when my end of days is coming. Reflective and intense. I really enjoyed this exercise of thought. Excellent poem. H🌷

Brilliantly penned dear Jav.
I often tell my mom that I feel like I am a genetic trashcan.... lmao.... because I have inherited n all the ailments from her and my dad's side in one person... medically speaking... lol.
It makes me more aware of having to take care of myself, though. Oh joy!! (she says sarcastically!)...
I relate and feel this one deeply.
