WHY I WRITE POETRY

CLARIFICATION.

I should have titled this,
"Why I TRY to write poetry."

I write poetry because
I have a love affair
with words, syntax,
metaphors, lines,
sentences, and paragraphs.

SUBJECTS

There is no subject
that poetry cannot address.
There is no emotion
that poetry cannot touch.
There are no highs
nor lows that poetry
cannot reach.

RESULTS

Poetry creates anger,
frustrations, doubt,
love, passion, pleasure,
sadness, euphoria,
danger, questions,
resolutions and revolutions.

COST

Writing poetry is
a free expression
of the soul and heart;
it may be on a napkin,
fancy paper, computer,
book, or fancy objects.

COMMUNICATION

Poetry is one of the
word's oldest forms
of communication, it
challenges thinking, reasoning,
and every cell in the body.
