Wilted Rose

Never whipped the white but I might get you hooked
Anything I wanna hide will reside inside of a book
Shook one's still envy so I stay woke about the enemy
Occasionally lowering my guard for friends & family

Protecting D is priority number one until the setting of my Sun
Only Lord knows if this concrete rose will go by way of the gun
Of someone who wants my fun to see an early demise
Forcing me to go see what lies beyond the blue skies

I'm afraid to die but it's so hard to keep on living
Sam Cooke said that long ago in a song he was singing
Proclaiming that a change was gon come around someday
But it doesn't feel that way with all of the war games we play

So, let us pray
Our father who art in Heaven
Hallowed be thy name
Please come relieve us from all of the pain
