Recluctant Greenskeeper
Do you think I am unaware
that my wild lawn needs mowing?
or that my straight edges
are partially concealed
by encroaching, creeping
ungoverned grass?
you’re disapproving,
armor piercing glare
screams, get off your ass
and start working!
Be assured
my intentions are pure
for small season
withholding the hungry mower
keeping steel blade
from lush verdant ones
bespangled throughout
with colorful wildflowers
encouraged by rays of Sun
nurtured by Spring showers
Was there some conclave
of ancient landscapers
that sat in judgement of seeds
these will surely yield good plants
those undesirable weeds
Why subject nature’s
breathtaking medley to order
or the spread of new growth
to borders.

Probably mow the lawn today...okay my son will mow the lawn today😁 Perhaps I'll do the trimming and edging🤠

Really like this one ... great flow ... steady cadence ... tells a story that pulled me in ... solid line breaks ... love the sprinkling of rhyme ... bravo dear GW ...

YES!! All hail the dandelions and wildflowers!!
My lawn is full of violets (well not yet but it will be) and I love it. Have fun getting your hands in the dirt.. that's still a good month off for me here.

Dear GW,
I think this is what god and nature intended. Just call it an “English” garden and you’re all set. No mowing, weeding, edging, seeding required. A wonderfully enjoyable poem! H🌷
