“Tonight, the light of love is in your eyes, but will
you love me tomorrow?” —Gerry Goffin & Carole King
somewhere in the wind,
i can hear the birds
singing in the trees,
just like yesterday.
somewhere in my mind,
i can hear the words
that you drank to me,
like bold beaujolais.
somewhere in the sand
are the promises
that you pledged to me,
like dead batoidei.
somehow, in your hand,
nothing seemed amiss
with the guarantee
love gave yesterday.
somewhere in the seas,
all my tears now fall:
how they melt away,
like love you once gave!
can you hear my pleas,
like a curtain call
with no cabaret,
in this dark enclave?
somewhere in my heart,
is a place for you
no one else can fill,
to the day i die.
charge me a la carte
for my rendezvous;
let me die, tranquil,
happy, and awry.
