Seasonal reflection
What’s is it about Spring
that after a long harsh winter
brings with it reflection
I often wonder.
I suppose it’s the same
between Autumn & Spring
the circle of life,
it’s daunting, as I get older
and, older still...
My lifetime keeps moving ahead
I’ve almost made it to the finish line
accomplishing nothing more
and less than average.
Sitting in a dark hole right now
I can see the light, but It is bright
and It is blinding, overwhelming me.
Knowing the truth that I’m surrounded
by my own failure, and that I cannot runaway
from myself. Change is hard
mistakes are costly.

Dear J,
There is nothing as sobering as reflecting on life as we round that bend to the finish line. I can’t help but think we’re harsher on ourselves than we should be in that we forget all the obstacles we’ve endured to get where we are. We never quite seem to pat ourselves on the back for that. Your closing stanza is a stunning reminder of not being able to truly shed who we are no matter where we go. Great write! H 🌷

Hi Claude,
So as I’ve said to Honoria, I’m just at a loss for words at the moment .. I’ve got a lot of junk in the attic that needs removing . Thank you for reading and commenting

Very heartfelt....
This life we live nowadays is about how much you've amassed over time not how you live....
Great ink

Mistakes are costly only in that they teach valuable lessons; learn from them and there will be no repetition! Everything is here to serve you, except thoughts, such as worthlessness; or, words such as failure. Those don't exist in the human experience except in the mind of the thinker. Everything you do contributes to your spiritual evolution one way or another.
Never forget that, sister. xo

Ava, my darling, I’m trying to find sanctuary in my own home/ life, unfortunately I’m living with a selfish inconsiderate alcoholic and as such, I have no freedom to express anything I guess you could say
I suspect that you may say go “find a quiet room and go in there and meditate” well, I-can’t, when he’s knocking on the door and harassing me because he wants my attention like a spoiled 2 years old. I don’t know how to put it into words exactly, just going through some shit right now. Thanks for stopping by reading and commenting.
I love you Ava ❤️

Well you suspected wrong; I thought no such thing. I would suggest you get out in nature where you can commune with her guidance and receive her nurturing support.
I hope things improve soon. xo

All very true, Zazzles. Time flies, our mistakes haunt us at time, and Spring does offer some time to reflect. Good write!

Your honesty and openness speak volumes, IMO. I have read a lot of poetry here and there's a very select few who are brave enough to be so introspective and truthful about themselves in their poetry. It's amazingly awesome and allows we as the reader to identify that much more because we can sense the truth that permeates from your writing.
You're correct, mistakes are costly, to me, it's also how we move on from them, picking ourselves up, dusting ourselves off and going forward and upward that really matters most. Learning from those mistakes, to make us better in the future.... Because let's face it.. we ALL fail and make mistakes.
You're a badass, Jackie and you can do whatever you set your mind to, if you wanted.
Believe that, my friend. I do.
Much love and enormous respect,
Your BB 💙💙

A sobering contemplation of the seasons of life and in the end the cost of mistakes. You wrote this with a deeply spiritual and unflinching look at what life brings. There is wisdom here in the dark realities that often come.

Quite a lot in here to relate as well ... what is it about that winter to spring thing? lol ... self auditing is a healthy thing though ... even if we aren't happy with the ledger's numbers the methods are all valid ... Bless and love ... ..
