As If to Fly
Here, in the Chronos grand town square
The immense towers overlook the city
Many of the watch makers and timekeepers
Go about their way keeping the plaza pretty
I saw my father there working in the square
Helping build the hands that mark time
He tapped his hat, winked at me and smiled
Then continued working under a sign
Every visitor’s eyes looked up to the skies
Admiring the skyscrapers perfectly created
As escalators like Jacob’s ladder gave rise
To something everyone there awaited
“There” my father said pointing overhead
Runes not numbers gave the time in the sky
Each tower marked an hour with bright light
As each visitor raised their hands, as if to fly
He tapped his hat once again, and smiled
