[ NaPo 2021 ] [ Gibran ] Who let The Prophet out?

You delight in laying down Laws,
Yet you delight more in breaking them.
Like children who play by the ocean building sand-towers with constancy and then destroy them with laughter.
But while you build your sand-towers the ocean brings more sand to the shore,
And when you destroy them, the ocean laughs with you.
Verily the ocean laughs with the innocent.

 ~ Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet

A day may come when your poetic
impact upon this world is washed away
in manner similar to printings on a beach
scooped up and carried off by tidal hands
for the scattering beyond shoreline's reach

Will you resent this?

Even after your body
is reclaimed by the Earth?

Or would you laugh along with it?

Know that dispersals and gatherings
around yourself of personal
realities, the Universe does not judge!

So, for the time being
to each his or her own;
laugh, rejoice, and commence
with kicking the ever loving shit
out of your sand castled creation
while you can

and while you can have fun
