Music Passion Three
Classical
Noble and lofty aspirations
flourish exponentially
and flee all less-than consternation's
when immersed in symphony
scores of instruments harmonize
proving peace and beauty thrive
when passion’s purpose unifies
Both heart and soul
are cleansed and comforted
By sonata, nocturne
or barcarole
I can hear dearly missed
grandfather talk
when on solacing cello
Yo Yo Ma plays Bach
Tingles, my body permeate
mind soars
In sweet romantic fantasy
sensual desires satiate
when love hungry ears
hear “Rêverie“ by Debussy
Happily, voluminous drops of sweat
imaginary tuxedo shirt wet
arms wildly gesticulating
Leonard Berstein imitating
conducting with excited fervor
Beethoven’s Leonore Overture
Too frequently life gets me down
In strings, woodwinds,
brass, and percussion's
needed peaceful repose is found
Author's Note
I turn, less often than I should, to classical music for uplift and peace of mind. It really is one of my favorite genre of music. I just feel better about myself when I listen to a favorite symphony orchestra or discover something new. Enjoy!

This is another truly wonderful poem, BB!
I looove Beethoven and can listen to Für Elise, Moonlight Sonata or Ode to Joy ( Symphony No. 9) on repeat or just his most popular compositions on a 3-hour compilation via YouTube, all day! I pulled up the Leonore Overture and I'm listening as I type. Beautiful...
I think my appreciation for classical stemmed from bugs bunny and that one classic operatic episode, where bugs is the opera singer in classic opera garb? (I'm serious! I watched it a million times as a kid!) 😂.. lol... and then in high school I was over the moon for Beethoven and I have been ever since. It's one of my favorite genres, but like you, I don't listen as often as I should, either. I really identify with this piece and I loved =
" Tingles, my body permeate
mind soars
In sweet romantic fantasy
sensual desires satiate
when love hungry ears
hear..."
I agree with you, except my catnip is usually Ludwig!
I thank you for sharing, BB
Wholly inspired and an awesome NaPo addition!

How awesome that you are a Beethoven fan. I love his music as well. I'ts intense and beautiful. Did you like the Leonore Overture? Did you listen to number three.
That's so funny about the Bugs Bunny cartoon. I love that one it"s hilarious and I've often imitated that hand raise.
I knew you'd like the romantic part. I am over the moon that you liked this piece so much.🌹🐻💋🐻💋🐻

Wow this just took me back in a beautiful way ❤️ Thank you for writing this wonderful piece
“ sensual desires satiate
when love hungry ears “
Simply Devine writing. I have always loved music. I use to sing barcarole in a choir and I played the cello growing up. This just submerged me into those wondrous moments, in an attentive and sensual way. Just lovely. Now I want to listen to some again 💕🥰🎻

Gwen, I am thrilled that this piece evoked in you such fond memories. How cool that you sang in a classical choir...such challenging music to sing. What is your voice type. I am a Baritone/Bass. The pinnacle of my singing experience was to sing in an Opera chorus in the San Francisco Bay Area. I was in Operas by Donizetti, Verdi, Mozart, and Lehár. I loved every minute of that experience.
The cello is one of my favorite instruments for that comforting feeling I describe in the poem. do you still play?
I appreciate so much your kind words and I am happy that you like especially the passage you cited? Are you a Debussy fan? I love that impressionist period of both romantic art and music. Cheers❣️

I was an alto. We would take part in a huge contest in Wales called the Eisteddfod hundreds around the world would take part.
I haven’t played the cello sadly for a long time. But it was and is my favourite instrument. I was obsessed with the cello from infant school. Wasn’t allowed to learn till I was tall enough lol I also played a the double bass and I still play the guitar. My father was a musician. He got me loving music. We would jam together a lot and write songs.
Thanks for the reflection today :) I bet you have a beautiful singing voice ❤️x

I'd say you're still an alto😉 What an awesome experience to sing for such a crowd. That's cute about the cello and your height. What a great memory jamming with you dad. You should write it down. 🌹

Dear, Sir Alfred
I am so pleased that you like this piece. I don't listen to near enough anymore and every time I do I wonder why the hell I don't. I am pleased that you too find solace in these great masterpieces of harmonious vibration. Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite was the very first symphony I fell in love with. The opening movement, Morning Mood has to be one of the most peaceful pieces of music ever written. Hall of the Mountain Kings is just plain fun how it begins tip toeing and finishes in full on boisterous mischief. Your kind words always make me smile, a grimacing bat smile of course.🦇😉🦇

Loved this - strongly relatable. Having played the Leonore in a symphony, you pretty much hit it straight on. The energy, the movement, the sweat :) takes me back. Thank you for sharing and letting me revisit a beautiful experience, keep writing.

Thank you so much, Darya🙏🌹 What a singularly awesome experience to play the Leonore Overture! Was it OP3? That's my favorite. What instrument did you play? I am honored by your comments as one who has hands on experience with classical music.

It was the Op 72b (the one that was so grand and fantastic that using it blew the whole opera out of proportion. I play viola :)
