stone statuette

I once had a love
whos feathers, like mine
were white as a dove
so soft and fine

we shared our lives
'twas heavens gift
sweet as honey comb hives
my spirits hed lift

and with his soft kiss
he stole my love evermore
and my heart shall stay his
no matter how sore

for the way it happened
replays in my mind
our loves abrupt end
was of the worst kind

my life he defended
from a cruel fate
his life had ended
for I got there to late

in his arms he held me tight
his soft touch turned cold as stone
as the grey took his light
he still held on,but I was alone

while holding me
my lovers soul left
and all that he be
was a stone statuette

I saw his life fade
and the only sound found
in that cold dark shade
was salted rain falling down
