Mighty Dwarven mansions
and mithril mines
---now a monumental tomb
encorpsulating four days' march
through Misty Mountains' gloom;
on precarious, crevassed crossing
---the Bridge of Khazad-dum---
we listen to drums beat
doom doom doom
Prelude to war
signaling our defeat
punctuated with nameless terror
In carved expansions and confines
once known by Durin's Folk as
Dwarrowdelf
there is no room for error

It's like a prelude to what lies in the darkness.
It was heartbreaking for Gimli to go from that proud swagger of what his kinfolk could do to what actually happened to them. Of course he barely had time to mourn as they had to run rush to the bridge.
