Eternity’s Record

Make note of first glances.
Write down each tender touch.
Place notes carefully in eternity’s record,
so they can be lost to time.

Will our whispers in union be added to the oceans
as proof that living cells were once in motion?
When all has been counted, sorted, and logged,
what mysteries of souls will remain?
Will the layering of stone, pressed down with time and heat,
whisper from our generation’s crystal vein?

Will these moments of lust and delight
one day tumble as smoothed river rock,
dancing with promise in a summer’s snowmelt?
Will new souls making love on the shore
hear the chiming of tonight’s ecstasy?
