Image for the poem Wishes of a simple man

Wishes of a simple man

A small house on the country side
With the view facing the setting sun
A couple of kids and a beautiful wife
A garden that's just big enough...

Wishes of a simple man

But this world of skyscrapers and asphalts
Moves way too fast
We all running,
But don't know where we going
Chasing the next big thing
No one seems to stop and listen
The cries of the world that's dying

We all chasing after something
No one satisfied with nothing
When are we going to settle?
Appreciate how far we've come
And celebrate all we've achieved in so little time

Maybe for once drink tea with a neighbour and ask how they doing,
Read a book and start teaching
Go to church and start preaching

Maybe for once start saving instead of taking
For we failed dismally in the art of giving
And maybe realise we are more than these lives we are living
We are better than the lives we chasing
In material things and riches is not where happiness is hiding
The secret to life is too start living

But with our nine to five
Faces on our screens
Who's to say we are alive?
With hearts with no end
Will we ever be satisfied?
And one day live life like simple men
