[ NaPo 2021 ] [ Gibran ] What Would Gibran Do?

You delight in laying down Laws,
Yet you delight more in breaking them.
Like children who play by the ocean building sand-towers with constancy and then destroy them with laughter.
But while you build your sand-towers the ocean brings more sand to the shore,
And when you destroy them, the ocean laughs with you.
Verily the ocean laughs with the innocent.

 ~ Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet

This is a child on the beach
gathering sand in these hands, each
drawing towards me raw building materials
to complement the I'm Material
world I alone create

Some magnets are strong
but never pique
unless they have attracted
too much of what doesn't belong

And for far too long
I was weak

and for far too long
I mostly reacted

but now I know
that there is no
limit to my reach

I am that child on the beach

gathering sand in these hands, each
pulling towards myself
raw building materials
to complement realities
I alone create
