Stone
All I wanted might have been in my hands,
If I had let go of my fears,
This dawning realisation,
Awakens something I thought dead,
Though I can't change what now is stone,
The fluid fills my cup,
New possibilities lead my heart,
To a place I had forgot,
And though I long for a warm touch,
I have enough firewood,
To keep me burning bright,
I heard a song once tell me,
Of the truth I now fully know,
I wish I'd truly listened,
Oh so long ago,
But as they say, what's done is done,
I can't change what now is stone,
I've led myself to where I am,
And trundle on I must,
My destination uncertain,
But a new song in my soul,
Singing loud, "I am not through!"
If I had let go of my fears,
This dawning realisation,
Awakens something I thought dead,
Though I can't change what now is stone,
The fluid fills my cup,
New possibilities lead my heart,
To a place I had forgot,
And though I long for a warm touch,
I have enough firewood,
To keep me burning bright,
I heard a song once tell me,
Of the truth I now fully know,
I wish I'd truly listened,
Oh so long ago,
But as they say, what's done is done,
I can't change what now is stone,
I've led myself to where I am,
And trundle on I must,
My destination uncertain,
But a new song in my soul,
Singing loud, "I am not through!"
