Fighting the darkness

Memories can't be erased
And disappear like time
Time is a thief, but it can't take
The memories of when you were mine

We were inseparable
Like fire that needs oxygen to breathe
But the drugs drove an
Immovable barrier between you and me

It was hard to watch
A beautiful face and sweet soul
Get lost in my arms
And turn into someone I didn't know

I'll be there for every step
I'll see you through
Please don't push me away
You've gotta want this too

If you're not ready
I can't make you
But I'll be waiting
When you're ready to renew

You've got to love yourself
Before you can love me
Just keep fighting the darkness
Until the light you see
