Regretting my honesty

Trusting isn’t normal for me,
but like a book i opened up myself to you.

I had high hopes that you’d understand me,
But i wasn’t prepared for you to just skim through.

After you claimed to know my whole story,
you just set me aside.

But little did you know that like the dust on the shelf,
new pieces of me accumulate over time.

You have no idea what each new chapter holds,
You’re just assuming based off of what you read before.

It’s heartbreaking to discover that you view something as simple as flipping a page as a chore.
