Natural Wonder

Silent and white are the mountains enclosing.
Here at my window, I view them with awe.
Grand and majestic, their sight is imposing.
Nature ensures that they have not a flaw.

Pine trees that still have their green from last season
Thrust from the ground that is covered with snow.
Their beauty endures, and they need no reason.
No matter what comes, they always will grow.

Time seems to stop here, and I will endure it.
All I can hear is the hush of the wild.
It knows I am here, and I will assure it
That I only seek to be charmed and beguiled.

When the night comes, and the sun has retreated,
Whispers of chilling wind whisk through the trees.
Animals stir as their instincts are greeted,
Giving a sense of contentment and ease.

Out from their houses and dens they are creeping,
Seeking to find a good meal for their young.
Walking the forest while others lie sleeping,
Answering music that nature has sung.

Waking at daybreak, I peer at creation.
Again, I'm amazed by its rivers and creeks.
I feel overwhelmed by a peaceful sensation.
Startled, I find there are tears on my cheeks.

Nature's a wonderful place to be staying,
Filled with all manner of great things to learn.
The world is art and to us it's portraying.
I hope that one day, I'll get to return.

Author's Note
I am currently on vacation in Colorado with my wife, and I decided that since I'm surrounded by nature, I had to write a poem about it.
