Full of Grace
be full of grace then now and forever
gracefully acquiescing to what may come
to bow to fate and her sister destiny
be as it may be and will be as always
holding on and smiling through tears
as promised, as expected of graceful grace
walking on upturned nails barefooted
heart worn on collar bone pressed by straps
burdened with gentle smiles with forbearing prayers
salves for hurt bandages of wounds soothing aches
always, always staying until all have left
a sinking ship, a downed plane, a burning building
would it that grace would turn to indifference
no burden felt of the worry of others
no pain no hurts just carefreeness of devil may care
no thoughts of Eden, of utopia of Shangri-La
but grace as grace will always be
search for the stranger’s cheer
watch the mirror for sweet smile and laughter
in every voice seek that tone of love.
