Out of Body
These parts of me are broken
Left trampled and littered on
By the winding gravel-laid laboriynth
Where I tore through the trees
With the screams of unseen assailants
Lapping at my heels.
My screams are choked and smashed
On the walls of these poor neglected nests
Gargling blood to swallow glass
Just to hide what was broken
The girl with the strange light in her eyes Takes my hand to walk on a starry night
Gazing at the wondrous sight above
As the wind twirls our hair
In nurturing yet sensual hands.
It's a breath of fresh air.
A lightness in my heart...
But the girl murmurs a feeble protest
As we touch fingertips
A veil between dream and reality.
Her strange light flickers
Like a bulb with a faulty element.
She fades....
And I'm left with nothing
But the screams in my head
Aching for a sweet sanguine kiss
From a presence watching me from the dark
Whispering the horrid sweet nothings I love to hear.
I lick the taste of blood in my mouth and smile.
"Darling, I'll be home soon."
