These Things We Can Know

This we cannot know.
The source of beauty?
What lies below?
What will our days be?
What seeds will we sow?

This we cannot know.
The sources of our lusts
that rise from within.
We are mere dust,
how can we sin?

These things we can know.
Bodies soon will cease.
All loves and thirsts will end.
Press in to find release.
In this moment, spirits ascend.

And now we appear as gods,
creators in our passions.
In darkness kind demons nod
as we end in human fashion.

Author's Note
I like the idea of kind demons nodding their approval from a dark corner while watching the display of human passions.
