It's sometimes a hard lesson learned as well. The hiding of one's true nature, in portrayal of something completely different to the world at large, it's still surprising to me THAT is a preferred modus operandi for anyone, really. I agree with you, it's the light that's so satisfyingly sanitizing. They say sunshine is the best disinfectant!! 👍🏻 ☀

Yeah, that's completely true, it's slightly subjective, JM. I am of the mind that it's about reflecting a truth of character. That someone's 'real' tells are  structured within their nature and they reflect their truth outward because there's no choice... it's who and what they are, it's innate. Otherwise it's completely disingenuine...and manipulative.

I too, believe that the deepest character of a person is truly visible when there are circumstances out of their control. You can always see flashes of honesty that flare bright, too... giving you an idea .. imo.. Sometimes for the good, sometimes for the bad. It's when the ability to be one thing to some but then in reality, be diametrically the opposite, THAT'S what's so brutal...

I choose the real tell, too. If anything, I'm too much of "I wear my heart on my sleeve" kinda gal ... lol

How beautifully balanced.
I couldn’t help but wonder throughout the write about the hypocritical metaphor. I kept thinking of my own true colors and how I display them. I noticed I have a particular set of hues for customer service reps, especially those not particularly service oriented or helpful...I have a set of hues for those I don’t particularly trust...another set for those I can trust and finally a set for “just get me through this and out of here” situations.  There might be a fading set reserved just for me but I have trouble seeing those. I like this poem because it’s so packed with meaning by its striking contrast in its brevity. Stunning piece. H🌷

Let me just say that I adore your H, introspection. You being as amazing as you are, YOU have me viewing my piece from a different perspective, via our "layers" of true colors that we flash depending upon particular circumstances. We as human beings are more complex than my mind's eye gave us credit for.. lol... duh, right?! Of course we are!!
I'm still such a trusting rube, even after 48 years of walking on this planet, my instincts (even with my past and it's deep scarring) are to believe that even with the layers, there's still that intrinsic nature of we are who we are, at our very core. Some of us seem to hide their innate goodness beneath their layers and some hide the fact that they're not good at all. I guess it's just the nature of human beings, maybe? Yet my sensitivity will always leave me having a problem wrapping my heart and mind around those humans who are that despicable dichotomy of the latter, I have had enough of those peeps to last me a lifetime... NEXT, Please!!.. hahaha... You're always so sweet and a freaking breath of fresh air. I thoroughly enjoy your visits, and you leave me thinking... which I completely appreciate.

We're all full of complicated colors, me thinks.
It's the ones that portray themselves outwardly one way or in one color but are really just full of another color altogether, that I don't have time for. Be real and honest, imo. I enjoy authenticity, not manipulation or drama..... Who does?!?!

hmmmm....this has me thinking in lots of different directions. yes, there is honesty in seeing all the different variations of color. but also..lots can be hidden within that variation. things that aren't brought to our attention until we shine light on them.

i'll have to think on this a bit more.
