so it soon became mine
everything was a lovely
shade of light green
but eventually
green embodied jealousy and envy
and that once beautiful green
grew darker and darker
until it was black
and now i hate the color green

Your succinct brevity is spot on. I think this is extremely resonate with almost all of us who've lost ourselves in another, at one point in our lives.
