All I Choose To Know
There was a plate
on a wall
in it a picture
gold framed and small
round was the fixture
on a hardboard brown wall
the image a young girl
who I never knew at all
she went to the other world
her life a short call
hair of red curls
in a dress or a shawl
the house where this was
was always cold
no doubt at all
a presence so bold
a sinking feeling
would so fall
a commotion
of emotion
to strike me from the hall
a long time ago
a dim memories glow
so this is all
I can recall
and all I choose to know
on a wall
in it a picture
gold framed and small
round was the fixture
on a hardboard brown wall
the image a young girl
who I never knew at all
she went to the other world
her life a short call
hair of red curls
in a dress or a shawl
the house where this was
was always cold
no doubt at all
a presence so bold
a sinking feeling
would so fall
a commotion
of emotion
to strike me from the hall
a long time ago
a dim memories glow
so this is all
I can recall
and all I choose to know
