Swirled weight

Laying here my mouth barely parted simply breathing
My eyes half open they're just too heavy
Took one too many pills to fight the nightmares
I need the sleep so I can face the doctor
To talk about the proteins in my blood
The stars behind my eyes swirl between
Trying to write these lines out before bed
Listening to my own ragged breath
Hyper aware of the textures of my bed
The stuffed rabbit under my head
The pillow wrapped in my arms
Another pressed up against my back
A body pillow between the stuffed animal and my arm
The creaking of the house settling
The heaviness in my chest floating out and around
Here I sleep
