Harmonic waves
  of windswept sand
Scattered our ghazals
Where we could see
    from our Samur tree
Dune grass dance
    in Sufi whirls
As morning cries
    from swift gazelles
Consorted with our song

And we tarried
    in unsaid words
Read in fervent eyes
Imprinted in the pattern
    Of each of our shemaghs

Unspoken words
    A confluence of streams

Of dreams
    becoming
