sally jean

darkness

sally jean are you there?

light

sally jean?

agonizing pain

secrets left uncovered

loving what can't be loved

people won't accept this

sally jean, a girl

me too a girl

they wont accept this

its a phase

i like boys too

how can it be both

why so indecisive

sally jean

the girl in the meadow

a crown of flowers surrounding her

fresh flowers like the ones she gave me

light-wash jeans

cuffed

music in my ears

playlists she made

she's my secret

my parents won't understand

why must i love sally jean

her brown beautiful hair

perfect, crooked smile

bright, big eyes

the protective warm hugs

i wish i could share this burden

big, heavy burden

pressing on my

shoulders

back

chest

head

pressure, pressure

sally jean relieves the pressure

but she causes the pressure

boys are easy

but sally jean is worth it

worth the secrets

sally jean?

light

sally jean are you there?

darkness
