Heavy drops of words (with reading)
Heavy drops of words
destroyed the world of sweet dreams,
They bang on the rooftops
and you can't hear yourself behind them,
In the rain among the houses
falling apart on the playground
Feeling a darkness in everyone
loneliness, cramps and contractions
Heavy drops of words
erupted on the dark city,
How can they describe
that words are powerless to limit
Ephemerality does not honor agonies
and the violence does not understand
The tighter I squeeze my palms
the more confidently they slip away
From distant galaxies
on the highway, on the sidewalks,
Begged from god
Is it good, is it serious
to sit here alone under the stars?
Or go home, trying to keep warm,
sleep and wait for miracles
destroyed the world of sweet dreams,
They bang on the rooftops
and you can't hear yourself behind them,
In the rain among the houses
falling apart on the playground
Feeling a darkness in everyone
loneliness, cramps and contractions
Heavy drops of words
erupted on the dark city,
How can they describe
that words are powerless to limit
Ephemerality does not honor agonies
and the violence does not understand
The tighter I squeeze my palms
the more confidently they slip away
From distant galaxies
on the highway, on the sidewalks,
Begged from god
Is it good, is it serious
to sit here alone under the stars?
Or go home, trying to keep warm,
sleep and wait for miracles

Hi Gin! Thank you so much for the really wonderful compliment! That makes me so happy. Nothing to apologize for, I have not read you yet and I feel bad about that but I will definitely check out what you have going on very soon. :) I am pretty much always challenged on reading time but I try. And hope to contribute something with writing at the very least. I really love that you read and liked this one. ☔💖

Dear K,
In answer to your last stanza I say do both. Sit alone under the stars and enjoy the magnificent beauty of those galaxies. Then go home put your sweatpants on, make a delicious cup of hot chocolate, climb into bed and wait for those miracles, great and small, to come your way.
Heavy drops of words, a phrase of great analogy. Words can be ungodly heavy and hurtful. Yet without them we can’t tell you how wonderful a poem this is, or how talented we think you are. Ugh, what a conundrum. Today, I chose words that only say how, yet again, your insightful poem and its powerful message has altered my universe. H🌷

That is great advice Honoria. Not really a sweat pants girl though; I like the cold to much. lol hot chocolate (dark) and miracles let's definitely do that. :) I am happy you like the analogy and they definitely can be hurtful and heavy in so many ways. Sometimes someone may not even fully understand how much they are affecting someone with their words and actions. Even to the point of making them give up something they enjoy. You are super sweet Honoria. I love that you think I am talented. I love that you were so moved by this! Thank you so much. ☔💖

I've always loved the sound of rain, but never thought of raindrops as words.
Loved hearing you recite this, it's a beautiful accompaniment the written verse.

Re. Heavy drops of words (with reading)
With what has happened in the past six months, this composition resonates. Reminds me that the world we can’t see can be damaged just as severely as that we see. I think of all the people who are dealing with violence that destroys positivity and hope.

Thank you so much for the comment Jazz. Yes, I agree this past year has certainly been something else... That is so true, there is a very fragile balance indeed. Violence certainly does that, it's sad that humanity can never get past it. ☔💖
Re. Heavy drops of words (with reading)
This feels refreshing. It's silly how we read our own work and don't think much of it, someone else comes along and see something in it. Pretty awesome stuff.
Edit: I read this and felt inspired.

At least the rain is refreshing. :) That's so true, we are our own worst critics. But sometimes others can see things more easily than us. Thank you so much for the wonderful compliment. ☔💖
I am really happy you felt inspired and something else came out of this. That is one of the best feelings, to inspire someone. I look forward to reading it. xo <3

Okay I just scrolled a mile to get to this point but it was worth the journey. I love this piece BD. And, of course, I love your voice. Words are powerful things and I found it poignant the different places where heavy words can destroy, homes, playgrounds, even whole communities. I was struck by this passage,
"Ephemerality does not honor agonies"
Words can be spoken so easily and cavalierly as an ephemeral thing that will soon be forgotten but they have lasting concrete impact I am still both encouraged and disturbed by words spoken to me as a child. Bravissima Kristina❣️❣️

Haha, scrolled a mile; you are funny... Thank you so much for the beautiful compliment on the reading. You always help me. Words are definitely powerful and if you feel mine were powerful in conveying that message then I like that. :) Words can be spoken very easily and they definitely have impact. When they are truly meant to cause harm and hurt that is some of the worst. Sadly so often that is the case. And I think we are all encouraged and disturbed by words from childhood in one way or another. Anyway, thank you for the comment; I always love reading them. ☔💖
