Dreaming
At night I dream of adventure and excitement.
During the day I cook and clean.
When I'm asleep my body's pulsating with passion.
When awake, it's just a fading dream.
At night I imagine I'm beautiful and attractive.
During the day I'm back in the same life.
When I'm asleep I catch the eyes of all I desire.
When awake, I'm just another mother and wife.
I'm scared to keep escaping to that dream world.
I'm safer during the day when I'm awake.
I know what will tempt me when I close my eyes.
I feel my family's union is at stake.
Even now my imagination is wandering.
I'm confused and not sure what to do.
Tonight I will try to commit to prayer.
Trusting in God to bring me through.

How well your poem personally resonates The dream state or fantasy world has such a strong pull for me. To be transported to a place where I am beautiful and desired and not responsible for the hum drum drudge I perceive myself to be in my real world seems like it would be such a gift.
Your closing line hooks my mind because I believe in that power even when I balance the idea that I could just up and go. Your poem is an answered prayer for me knowing I’m not alone in these similar thoughts and feelings. Powerful write. H🌷

I love a good book or movie, but I have to recognize when I'm feeling weak and what to refrain from. We will always have our desires and it's nice to have an escape. When struggle with desire becomes too much though, I have to take it off my shoulders and give it to God. It is not worth hurting family over. I will pray for us both.
Made me think of "Night at the Museum" where the exhibits come to life at night!
Excellent poem about escapism and responsibilities. I think a lot of us think of an "alternate universe" where we are more dynamic, adventurous, loved, revered and of course desired. Thanks for sharing and I'll keep your secret. Don't beat yourself up too much, you sure seem like a good person. The desires are normal - you are a red-blooded woman.
