Self-Destructive Chemistry

Caught inside the maze of isolation
Seeking for escape in the right direction
Deterrents of distraction endorse delay
And you never wanted it to be this way

I've been there and I am you
Despite our differences in point of view
As loneliness greets us, even in a full room
Underlying whispers of accusation
When demons narrate our personal gloom

Lip deep conviction is the soul's placation
Nevertheless surely there's something to be said for
The hope we embrace of poorly executed desire
In our weakness, as we stumble towards something more
Our dry hearts beg for the divine lovers' fire

Gray skies painted through the scope of different sins
Still a common lack of color leaves us feeling empty deep within
Yet even as I remind you, I'm telling myself to not give in
When commitment is key to cultivating consistency
There will come a day when both of us will win

And who's right is it to cast a stone
When vices enchant us when we're alone
But to think we've all got reasons to serenade shame
And yet love still calls us out by name

Recipe's relative custom cocktails
We aim to unlock the false fulfillment of this reprieve
Like self-destructive chemists with partial paraphernalia
Externalize our lungs and suffocate as we breathe

Heartbeats harden as we pulse within this shell
Objectified by a plethora of pleasures and the aftermath of hell
Yet not that of second death but the suffering in the now
Hold on to hope, even when it hurts, we will find our lives again somehow

Feeling trapped by miles, walls, and circumstances
When life feels like a waiting room of blind romances
Every mystery seems more like intimidation than a thrill
Caught somewhere between a nightmare and a dream
When none of this seems real

Lost for the highs and lows
The wilderness, the in between
You've still gotta future worth fighting for
Though it seems a vision unseen...
