Perspective

I saw a flock of birds
Fly by
Against the crimson red
Of evening sky -

I thought -

How free!
As they soared high -

While I caught fast
Upon the earth

Must stay -

Held with leaden feet
In pots of clay -

Where worries build
A chain link fence around -
And like a magnet
Pin me to the ground.

Yet -

With a thought
Swifter than a wave of light,
I too can soar
My soul take flight

And -

Join those birds
Against the sky -
And in that moment
Feel eternity -

Bodiless!
Deathless!
Free!
