Emphysema
I received some bad news a couple of days ago when I went to the doctor. I have Emphysema. It's my fault. I did it to myself because I smoke. I quit smoking in May of 2019, but because my nerves are shot, I started back.
I want to take this opportunity to ask every reader who are non-smokers to stay away from cigarettes. They are dangerous. Cigarettes killed my uncle twenty years ago. I've got Emphysema and it can happen to you too if you smoke.
I'm also asking any readers who are smoking to quit. I know that it's difficult to stop smoking, but it can be done. All you have to do is use nicotine gum, lozenges or patches. It also won't hurt if you ask the Lord to help you quit.
But whatever you do, please don't try to stop cold turkey. I know from past experience that quitting cold turkey is very difficult.
When my nerves get a little better, I'm going to try to quit again. Hopefully, I'll be able to quit next month. Any prayers for me will be appreciated.

My thoughts are with you, I quit on Oct 14th 2019 after smoking for over twenty years..It was incredibly difficult at first but now I refuse to ever turn back and trust me, there's been a zillion times I've wanted to. Once you get past those first 6 months it's much easier to handle. I'm sorry for your diagnosis that's unfortunate.
I do wish you good luck in your endeavors to quit and to make it stick! You sound like you're committed and that's half the battle!

You have the strength to quit.
It's in there.
If I can, you can.
I mean that without any condescension. I struggled with quitting for months and I swear i thought I'd never break free.
There is some fat cat somewhere who is raking in the bucks, feeding off your addiction, not giving a shit about your illness. They know that cigarettes cause COPD and cancer. They are no worse than any other "pusher" on the street and don't deserve another dime of your money. They hooked me when I was a kid and fed off of me for years.
Treat your addiction like the illness it is and take the cure, whatever that is for you.
I finally quit thirty years ago after what seemed like a hundred tries. I learned that if I went two weeks and failed, and smoked, I had still made progress and could start over and go another two or three weeks before the addiction beat me down again. For months after I finally quit I would dream about smoking and wake feeling weak and guilty and ruined.
These days I can't stand to be around smoke.
But even after 30 years I have issues related to my addiction to cigarettes, and so I hope you find the strength to break free very soon. Don't give it any more of your potential for happiness.
It is a serious addiction, and a hell of a thing, but you can shake it loose.
