Gogyoshi Poem, Nr.11 Wheel of Unfortune
He had a reluctant extra job
as an occasional hired assassin and she reluctantly
worked boring long hours on a production line in the local bullet factory.
They did it, honourably, to help their kids through college,
just as their own parents had done.

Sad how life doesn't afford the practice of what living teaches.

Thank you AT. It's a tricky one, how much and what particularly do we 'pass on' to our children by 'sacrificing' our own lives. RL appreciated.

Dear J,
These two are a match made in heaven. Proves youd do anything for your kids no matter how unsavory a task and I love that premise. Clever write. H🌷

Thank you H, and honoured with another RL. I sometimes wonder if 'parental sacrifice' can be a burden to their children -- especially if the parents keep telling their children how how much they are sacrificing for them. But it's a natural response, I guess.

Ah, yes the million invisible strings attached to the sacrifice. Good point. From that view point its usually better to suffer come what may then listen to the endless see what Ive given up for you?! lament.

Any time one hears in one's head that little ditty ... "after all I've done for you .." then one knows there were mixed motives lurking somewhere in the subconscious. :))

Making ends meet with two jobs is hard enough, but to put kids through college...
Interesting piece Josh, you always give us pieces that make us think.

Thank you Wally. The pressure these days to merely 'survive' in a reasonable way seems to crowd out thinking about the reason why we're here in the first place.

Thank you monkeyman, and for the RL. Yep, life can be so pressured and hectic we lose perspective of what it's all about. The automatic parental repeat-button seems to be a powerful force.
