The Rose and the Knight

Whilst riding through the kingdom, the Knight came across a Rose, encumbered by weeds and vines, it was a struggle for her to grow

Vines on her petals, weeds, hanging dragging at her stem, he decided he would save this Rose and cut her clear of them

He climbed down off his charger, his pure and noble steed, he pulled out his sword of justice, then he started with his deed

Hacking at the weeds and vines, the job was hard and slow but he knew if he cleared her way, this Rose would surely grow

As the Knight cleared the Rose, a unexpected feeling in him grew, a desire to keep her with him always, though it was ridiculous he knew

How could he take this beauty with him, as he rode across land, a Rose such as her would soon get bored, his life is tough and bland

But inside he yearned for the Rose, but he knew he had to leave, he glanced at her one more time, for her his heart would forever greave

He has been to many lands, many battles fought and lost, in the protection of the Queens kingdom, but his heart has paid a cost

For somewhere in a far away land, someone else now loves his Rose, he wonders does she think of him, of his love he hopes she knows

He hopes her love protects her, he prays she's in full bloom, he hopes she remembers her loving Knight, whose sword gave her the room

The room to grow in a weed free space, to reach and feel the Sun, though she may not remember him, but to the Knight she is the one
