Fantasising

... I’ll be honest... replace “to be held” on the last line with “a Gregg’s sausage roll” and this poem is totally where I’m at during lockdown.... 😏

This poem however does highlight the loneliness experienced at the moment. I got to go on a walk with a friend this morning (as part of my daily exercise with 1 person allowed) and apart from my Husband, I realised it’s the first face to face conversation I’ve had with somebody else since October. And no family in 14 months.  

I’ve always been pretty introverted (hard to believe... but true...) but I would give just about anything to be able to hug somebody at the moment.  

Maybe when this is all over it will give us all the push we need to integrate with the world a little more. We only need remember the loneliness felt to put some work into it.  

It won’t last forever. Hold onto that instead.  👌🏻

Frankly my dear, I don't believe that a damn! the only long relationship I have had is with loneliness: so although post-pandemic it may well bring more people together, I doubt it will conjure a miracle cure for what ails my soul.

Even now I know my lockdown experience is different from a lot of people; very much not in this together equally.

Bah, more melancholic self-pity, I bloody well hate it. But at least it makes me write a bit.

Ah there is the rub; the days aren't shit or bad just rather empty sometimes.

The hug would be somewhat awkward and ill-advised in this pandemic!
Murray Mints are okay, though seems a little bit old fashioned and normal as a gift from you.
And the kittens basket is nice but is just a bit too sickly sweet: nevermind caring for the mewling.

At least time and mutable emotions means the melancholy does not stay forever.
