The Sun Will Not Always Rise

What would you say if that 'see-you-later'
was really saying goodbye;
if you knew in your heart, if not in your head,
that one of you was going to die?

Words left unsaid and deeds left undone
slowly consume the soul,
like acid rain dripping on mortal flesh,
till lies and truth are exposed.

For Death is a thief, he will not be mocked,
cheat him now though you may;
The sun that rises eventually falls
and may not light a new day.
