it's self-defense
I'm guarded and cautious
I dare you look me in the eyes
daggers fly
I'm dangerous when I'm like this
I have to dial it down
I won't give in
I'll eat the world with a fork
pain is a sadistic teacher
watch as the student becomes the Master
I'm coming on strong because when it comes to torture
it's better you than me

I love this expression of those defense mechanisms and the protective shell that we develop from the pain and disappointments of life. Sometimes turning outward, injured and ready to bite or lunge at the slightest new infraction.

"pain is a sadistic teacher" is so true.
Sometimes I used to question myself if I was a masochist because of the things I'd put myself through. On the flip side, there is something so titillating to it as well.
