Plagued
I don't know what has me
clamped down the most: a religion
I've had to sift through for truth,
or my own feelings
of inadequacy.
The two can certainly go
hand in hand (in case you didn't know).
A person can only dig
a well so deep before they realize
the mud walls are a coffin.
How dark would it have to be before
you forget the light? Void-like?
I know big thoughts roll through
like massive clouds sloshing their
innards across our faces.
It shouldn't be this way.
I need some fucking security.
I need some fucking decency.
I need a minute to take it all in—
to rest.

Damn those last four lines, Eerie... they're a lethal knockout.... and I feel them to my bones
(unfortunately, I guess for us both...)
Just an outstanding spill.

I hear you. I often don't say much under your writes. They're so raw, I feel like giving an analysis would be obtuse. I appreciate you.

Raw or not, I would always welcome an analysis or critique. It is always a pleasure to hear from you, my friend :)

Dear E,
It feels like a plague to be plagued with these feelings. And no gd playbook to get the step by step answers. How to rest when the mind is in tizzy has always eluded me. I wish I had the solutions to share. I can, however, say how much I appreciate this piece and its straight forward understandable. Your writing comes from a bedrock of truth that resonates to and for anyone. An amazing gift, wish I had it. H🌷

Feelings can certainly be a plague sometimes, especially if you wear them on a sleeve for any ole person to snot on. Thanks, H.

So the universe must be talking to us. I was thinking of Florence + The Machine's Dog Days Are Over earlier today.
That third stanza is pretty scary, at how much one can really ignore everything else before realizing how deep they've gone.
Though provoking piece. Well done.

I love Florence Welch. Her albums have been in heavy rotation as of late. (Been listening to a lot of Grimes and Santigold lately as well).
Stanza three...yeah I’ve mastered ignoring things. Sometime it’s good and sometimes it’s not.
Thanks, Wally.
