Passing Ships

I’m still trying to ascertain the position in which he was briefed as his suspicions are blatantly obvious when he cross references me, and I can’t help but feel the subtle pull of his energy as his eyes drill me deeply as if he’s mining for some kind of truth & honesty to contrast the briefing prior to our inevitable introduction, when that’s all I’ve ever been.

Old habits die hard, and it’s more than apparent his investigative skills are well honed but blatantly obvious as I study the way in which we engage with one another as he attempts to casually but intently psychoanalyse me, and the depth of his character when blended upon his nature triggers a smidgen of hope that one day, we’ll get to where we’re going in unity; strategically and operationally.

I’m like a moth to a flame, and I forget that I can’t keep him as he as-a-matter-of-fact tells me that’s not on the horizon, when he’s exactly what needed to happen as we navigate our way into a new structure, and the grace of his presence reaffirms why she appointed him to this role, and I oft lose my train of thought when I’m trying to brief him on matters that fall within the remit.

It’s the way his eyes penetrate mine, and I get lost in those unplanned pausal moments as I’m impressed by the methodology he deploys but I’m somewhat distracted by his level of emotional intelligence, and I find myself having to stop and catch my breath whilst I struggle to filter the words that tumble from my lips to mask the cascading waves of emotions he stirs.

However, the ring on his finger reiterates that I shouldn’t be daydreaming and entertaining myself with his masculinity to compensate for the weeks I missed the way our energy blended, when duty recalled him to channel his energy towards the woman he built his life with.

And I can’t help but see the correlation between our underlying motivating factors to trigger change, and challenge the status quo in a pragmatic but strategic manner.
