Long and short.
A knight named Michel Mallory
And his group of fifty
Travelled from the small town
Of Bernay in Normandy
In the year 1200
Heading for that crusade
In Constantinople.
Full of energy and the desire
To do good, but by the time
They reached Koln,
They were so bone tired
Out of food and little water,
They found it so schon
And the reception in the
Quarter of St Severin so
Welcoming indeed
That they decided to stay
And become part of the
German community...

Interesting story. I hear Cologne has a great history, with great architecture, museums and culture. I may need to put it on my bucket list.

Yes it does have a long history....they even have a statue of Charlemagne in the center of the old town.....His town at one time.
