The Pursuit of a Feeling

fuck this fluff shit
I'm sailing out to sea
leaving a place that used to mean
everything to me
long ago it was filled with artistry
sounds of magic bursted though the speakers
moving my body with old lovers
shaking it to the ground
we thought the fun would never stop
surely it could only get better
but we were wrong
I think the last of the sweet fruit
has been plucked
the music was stripped
cheapened and sold for nickels
best to fake a smile
you can't play realism at the clubs
no county for old men
this land is one I don't recognize anymore
like a forest knocked down
and transformed into a concrete hell
all I hear is noise
no substance
no beautiful words of enlightenment
so I'm surfing the waves
no turbulence can stop me
keeping my ears open
I need that feeling again
in pursuit of the white whale
drums thump on
guitar strum the chords of my heart
make my emotions burst like before
I think I hear it somewhere in the distance
