Lucid

Even lovers leave a note on their way out
But you...
Impossible from the start
came in through my window
uninvited and unannounced.

The air was electrified by your presence
Emotions clung to me like static
so drawn to the mystery of you.

Holy healer or wicked dealer?
The truth is unknown to the naiveté of my youth
Indestructible babes
A future so bright, hope you brought shades.

But I am no more wise than the number zero,
an unborn child or wide-eyed fool
who has never lived a day in his life.

That which is yet to come...

So I jumped off the highest cliff
straight into oblivion
because my love is pure potential
Trusting a stranger to be my savior
with words that seem to melt my new reality.

I want to know your mind,
so tired of pretending
like an uncomfortable imposter
Though you taught me how to stay afloat
in the stormy seas
Besieged
by 21st century auto immune dis-ease
Wave upon numbing wave
of conflict and complacency
to Kill me or Pill me.

And the cold thick calluses of your hands;
Did you reach out to save me or pull me under?
Narcissistic pleasantries made it hard to see
Oh, how I wanted you all to my Self
so I opened the window and let you in.

Strangers, not lovers
just passing by
and now I recollect why
as I slept so soundly, you left no goodbye.
