Stretch Your Neck
Some twat on TV
blurted it out:
Yesterday is always
the most depressing
day of the year
While the Jews are tunnelling
under East Jerusalem
we need huge mirrors in space
to reflect the effects of global warming
and push too hot to handle
to a different corner of the universe
that's anywhere else but here
Lost generations are in debt forever
mourning the death of the pub
with sorrows to drown beyond babies
their swollen tongues scream
woe is us
Cooking time?
Figure how to murder your own ego
without killing yourself
Freezing time?
Just stop trusting someone else's
recipe for reality
rather than your own
There's dust on this keyboard
as unwelcome as the dentist's drill
it recognises diversionary activity
for what it is:
me not confronting having to stand
before an audience
to read my words thought bollock naked
Even though it's the golden age of poetry
they think there's a difference
between blue and black ink--
but it's all
just January blues.
